This season Ciaté London covers LFW AW16 as sponsor to fearless footwear designer Sophia Webster. Leaders in fashion forward nail innovation and high performance formula, Ciaté London worked with brand ambassador and celebrity nail technician Rebecca Jade Wilson to create a bespoke nail design to complement the collection.
For AW16 Sophia Webster embraces the sophisticated art and attitude of beautiful uniqueness, with a rich palette, decadent textures and embellishment that explores a darker side. From fluttering butterflies to Klimt gilt portraits, inspiring luxurious gem-like tones and metallic sheen finish, to this season’s muse, and cult gothic romantic, Miss. Lydia Deetz (played by Winona Ryder).
Inspired by Sophia’s vision, Rebecca worked with Ciaté to create a nail design that was both gothically influenced yet had a polished, manicured feel - the feathered tips added dimension to the nail, whilst classic red polish on the toes provided a splash of colour to pull the look together. Paint Pots in Unrestricted Glam, Boudoir and Amazing Gracie were used to create the design.
“It has been a season of evolution - collecting my thoughts about the past, the present and future. From creating the silhouette and shoes, then bringing all the characters to life with my collaborators, it’s about daring to be strange or unusual but most of all beautifully unique.” Sophia Webster
“The beautiful gothic feel of Sophia's show this season was easy to get inspired by! Collaborating with Sophia feels so natural as I feel her aesthetic is so clear and we enjoy the creative process. We decided to do a black 'wash' over the nails which is essentially a black nail polish diluted through clear lacquer, leaving a slightly transparent jelly like finish on the nails. To complete the look we dry brushed black nail polish from the free edge down to the mid-point of the nail towards the cuticle to give a worn, gothic inspired, beautiful manicure. The entire design was encapsulated in lashings of top coat to ensure a super shiny finish.” Rebecca Jade Wilson
